Saying “HI” To Norman

Nov 20 Saying HI To Norman
We cleared our exit out of Nassau Harbour with the Harbour Control and we were on our way to the Exumas. First stop – Norman’s Cay. Another beautiful sail today without the motor. When we arrived at Norman’s we decided to try a different anchorage than the one we chose the last time that we were here. Last spring we dropped anchor in the channel at the south end of the island where the airplane wreck is awash. Absolutely beautiful place with so much to see and explore but the current was so strong that it had the boats pointing away from the wind. Not the most comfortable for sleeping. This time we anchored just south of Skipjack Point. Great holding, no current, excellent protection (we had easterlies). We celebrated our return to the islands of the Exumas with a couple of “sundowners” as we watched the sun go down from our cockpit.
FYI – the instruments were still not behaving properly. Occasionally the auto pilot would just change direction and go on a course of its own choosing and the GPS was making us play guessing games. It suddenly occurred to us that before leaving home we had updated the chip with the Raymarine Systems Update we hadn’t actually used said chip to update our systems on the boat. So we did and … it worked! So far …
